![]() Eight policemen killed in Lamjung raidLamjung/ Sept 27 the people's guerrilla army launched another daring raid within a week, this time in this mountainous district, killing eight policemen and injuring seven others. The latest attack on the police came barely 48 hours after they suffered a larger casualties in Dunai, Dolpa district. Fourteen policemen died there in a rebel attack on Dunai. The Maoist guerrillas attacked at 1.00 am on Wednesday and continued until 4.00am. At Bhorletar, the fighting began when more than 300 rebels surrounded the police station soon after midnight. The guerrillas asked the local residences not to come out and asked to surrender by loudspeaker but it began with cross fire. The four hour battle ended when the incharge of police station including other seven policemen were killed and others surrendered. Among the eight dead policemen are Sub-Inspector Ram Bahadur Ranabhat from Ramjakot VDC-9 of Tanahu, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Dhana Prasad Subedi from Ganeshpur VDC-3, Syangja and policemen Bhumiraj Bhandari from Narethanti VDC-5, Baglung, Resham Joshi from Purkot Daha VDC-3, Gulmi, Indra Bhadur Chand from Baphikot VDC-2, Rukum, Suresh Prasad Kurmi from Bagauli VDC-4, Rupendehi, Tarapati Khanal from Darau VDC-4, Syangja and Netra Bahadur Kunwar from Raniswara VDC-2. After raiding the police station the rebels also took away seven rifles, four ammunition magazines, two pistols and communication set including other war material, according to the police HQ. Police claimed that there must be some casualties on the rebel side, for their self-satifaction, but it is yet to be verified. "DSP Rai said over 300 armed-Maoists in military uniforms pounded the police post with hand-made bombs and then took away all documents from a local Agriculture Development Bank located near the police post. Local witness told The Kathmandu Post that the rebels also set fire to a forest office which was smouldering till Wednesday morning." The Kathmandu Post reported. Why the attack in Vorletar area police station?The cause of the attack in Vorletar Area police office is the consequence of the what police done on the 18th of August in their area. On 18th of August the police team captured a young lady Harikala Paudel while she was going to participate in a programme against the rape and killing of women by the police and goons all over the country during past four years of period. She was murdered after the raped and buried at forest which later found public and hr defenders. On september 19th in a programme to pay tribute her the guerrilla commander promissed publicly in her village Vorletar they would take revenge within a week those policemen who are involving anti-people and criminal activities. The event taken place just within a week. The human rights organisations asked government to investigate and punish to those responsible. But nothing happen except repression. Ultimately the guerrillas took actins after the demand of people and people's court. "A highly placed police source said that the insurgents had warned of severe consequences, after Bhorletar police earlier killed a woman Maoist activist Hari Kala Poudel." Published in Kathmandu Post on 28th of September. According to the Maoist source this police Camp was responsible for dozens of evfents.
