Disappeared People are 72: Says HR Report

Kathmandu/ Dec. 18, 72 persons are disappeared from the police custody in Nepal in last two years until January 99. One of the humanrights organizations of Nepal "Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) released a report on disappeared people in 18th of December in Kathmandu and claimed that the number of people who were disappeared after police arrested reached 72. In 1998 the number was 63 according to the report. Before the january 99 there are lot of others also disappeared and this record is not available. After the January 99 there are hundreds of people disappeared after police arrest.

The people who disappeared from police custody are include Political workers, teachers, Journalists, lawyers, and civilian also.

According to NNC the government has denied that any people disappeared from police custody and has also not given any informations of those who INSEC claimed to have "disappeared from police custody".

Similarly, INSEC reports says that about a dozen people including police DSP Thule Rai disappeared after Maoist insurgents took hold of them.

Maoists have accept the abduction of some people including DSP Thule Rai.

INSEC has demanded that the government give information of those who disappeared from the police custody.

According to media hundreds of people are claimed to have killed in fake police encounter after police arrested. In 99 this events are accelerated in higher accurance.
