The lengths to which the German authorities went to stop Donny’s hunger strike is simply mind-boggling. Please read Donny’s latest statement and also for background read what we wrote when communication with Donny was cut. Last Thursday (3rd July) Donny was taken out of the deportation prison again, having being told he will be take to the ‘Nigerian Embassy’ so that he can be issued with an emergency travel document. In fact it was a small office in Ludwigshaven with some Nigerians who were working for the Embassy. They seemed to be happy to collaborate with the German authorities to arrange the papers for a fast track deportation for Donny. Donny’s new asylum application, which was logged now more than a week ago has not been rejected yet – so he cannot be deported. Even if it is rejected the Bundesamt is obliged to inform his lawyer and give the chance for him to lodge an appeal to the courts against it. In this eventuality the lawyer will also make an emergency application to the court to stop the deportation until his case can be heard at the court. Until this appeal is rejected he cannot be legally deported. However the way in which Donny’s case has been dealt with it is possible that there is some new tricks they are arranging for Donny. Donny has informed us that he will restart the hunger strike on Saturday morning (5th July) and further he has said that he will continue it even is he is again taken to the prison hospital in Hohen-Asperg. Donny is willing to do his utmost. We must all rise to the occasion. We must all act fast. Please fill the petition sheets and fax it to us.
