Kotbada Raid:11 Commandos killed in Kalikot
 
 

Kathmandu/ on Nov 29- The people's Guerrilla Army lead by CPN (Maoist) attacke in a area police striking force station at Kotbada of Kalikot district killed 11 policemen in a two hour-long gunfight in a Kalikot district early Thursday. The attack, which began from 11.00 PM Wednesday night, also seriously injured seven policemen including a police inspector, incharge of the station.

About 3 and half hours trek north of the district headquarters Manma of Kalikot. There were about 47 policemen in the station when the attack came. The dead includes an Assistant Sub Inspector and two Head Constables. The battle was ended up when the police surrendered. Some of the newspaper affiliated with RAW tried to miscommunicate the guerrillas by saying that the guerrillas killed some of policemen after surrendered. Even it was true that the inspector and other officers could not let after the firstaid treatment provided by the medical team. The government mouthpiece Gorkhapatra has written that the 11 policemen have been killed during the fight and seven others injured by quotting the government officials and injured policemen and locals.

After blowing up the police post, the PGA able to capture 31- 303 rifles, 7 -magnums rifles, 4 shot-guns, 4 Chinese-manufactured pistols and a stack of ammunition. They also captured the communication instruments and others war materials.

"According to the News paper Kathmandu Post, Police sources said that Kotbada police station had live communication with the district headquarters during the early hours of Thursday morning. However, communications were disconnected when the rebels bombed the station.

Now safely in Kathmandu, Police Inspector Bishnu Govinda Thapa said that he had asked for

reinforcement during the rebel fire. "Sentries have already been killed; we are still fighting. But I have

been hurt," Inspector Thapa informed the district headquarters before being tied up by rebels.

When the attack came, the Royal Nepal Army was patrolling around the district headquarters. The army and the police could not try for assistance, however they got regular information during fight." They came next morning to bring their commandos deadbody and injured. Kalikot is one of the influenced district even before the initiation of people's war there was not any stronghold.

It is the district where the police killed four unarmed activist and supporters of the Maoist last month and broadcasted they killed rebels in an encounter, a readymade formula issued by the communication ministry. This attack is the forth bigger millitary action during november. The government ploted a drama to avoid the dialogue in Dinesh Sharma event.
