Zurück "Kein Mensch ist illegal" You shall know that no one is illegal. It is a contradiction in itself. People can be beautiful or even more beautiful. They may be just or unjust. But illegal? How can someone be illegal? Elie Wiesel
»No One Is Illegal«A socio-cultural projectWorld-wide, human beings are fleeing from their home countries becau se of war and hunger or political, ethnic and religious persecution. In their search for security only some reach European countries. Four years ago, Germany started a tough policy towards the rights of asy lum, which has intensified the already hostile existing social climate towards persons seeking asylum. In the era of globalisation of markets and media national boundaries are getting more and more narrow for international humanity. The number of trouble spots where people are fleeing from is increasing. Refugees have become an alleged threat to single nation states that run an intact welfare state and legal system. Single states and societies are trying with political repulsion, social values of humanity to which western societies like to refer to, are set aside. The project FLUCHTZEITEN, with its political claim has been con ceived from this background. The project will and shall mark a point of intersection which will raise many practical and theoretical questions towards structure and function of art and society. All in all the project raises not only the question of socio- political standpoints and development but also raises the question of international demand and understanding towards artists, art production, presentation, mediation and context. Furthermore the project describes a Work in Progress where different artists, cultural and artistic instituti ons, political and artistic groups with their own ideas come together. This way clear signs will be given to larger public not only in the con text of current and political art and the extended term of art, but also influences the anti-racist and refugee resistance. In this context the project with its artistic, political and process orien tated complecity offers everybody - participants, visitors and passer-by as well - different possibilities of coming together practically and coo perating. Everybody is invited to participate in this project. This co- operation with refugees, migrants and human rights groups is a kind of openness toward experiencing resistance - and for those outside a pos sibility for never ending, bold and resistant artistic intervention. Under the conditions of state racism which have become unfortunately normal, we shouldnít forget the possibilities available for support and living together and how much courage and enjoying of people has been achieved despite discrimination and rejection. One of the participating artist groups writes that from these circumctances - the conditions of reality, resistance, courage and fun- by this art project something have to be developed for those people affected in order to be able to demand their dignity and their right to come and to stay.
