* Leonard Peltier Food Drive for Chiapas *

This summer an LPDC caravan will bring food and humanitarian aid to the Indian peasants of Chiapas, Mexico. This as a reaction to the recent slaughter of 45 people in the village of Acteal on 22  December 1997. 
After this horrible massacre, the exodus of Indians from villages in Chiapas accelerated. There are some 11,000 displaced people. Since 22 December another 15 children, 8 women and 10 men have died of fever, respiratory infection, parasites and malnutrition. The Mexican government does not offer any real help because the Indian peasants are supporting the EZLN (Zapatista National Liberation Army). 

Leonard Peltier is asking us to organise events, big or small, to collect funds for this Food Drive. Food for the people of Chiapas will be bought from the Indian peasants in Mexico. This will help the peasants who support the Zapatistas and it'll keep their brittle economy alive. This will also reduce our expenses of shipping food from the United States, Canada and Europe. 

This is a unique and great way to support Leonard Peltier in the work that put him in prison. 

The Leonard Peltier Food Drive caravan will probably head down to Chiapas early July. 

Organise a waffle & cookie sale; a garage sale; a party... Empty your piggy bank... 
All donations, whether large or small are welcome. It doesn't matter whether you send 1$ or 1,000$. Because all small donations added up will create a mountain!
