![]() Editor Sen missing after ‘release’ RAJBIRAJ, March 11 (PR) - Janadesh Weekly Editor Krishna Sen, who was ordered by the Supreme Court to be released from custody last week, is reported missing. The authorities claim that he was released Saturday evening but nobody has seen him or has any clue to his whereabouts. Local journalists who went to see Sen on Sunday morning were told that he was released a day earlier. Sen had telephoned local journalists on Saturday evening asking them to visit him on Sunday morning. Sen had called them thinking he would be released on Sunday as Saturday was weekly holiday, according to the journalists. In-charge of the jail Hom Nath Khatri informed the journalists that Sen was released at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. "We escorted Sen outside the jail premises and we don’t know what happened afterwards," said Khatri. He said that Sen had wanted to call some journalists when they had released him. "There was a police van about 100 meters from the jail gate. We don’t know whether that van took away Sen or not," said one official speaking on condition of anonimity. Superintendent of Police, Narayan Prasad Sharma said that he did not know anything about it. The Supreme Court’s full bench on Thursday had issued a habeas corpus writ releasing Sen who had been in detention for nearly two years. Asked whether anybody could be released on Saturday (public holiday), Jailor Khatri said that the law does not prohibit releasing anybody on a public holiday. Sources said that Sen has been taken to regional police unit at Janakpur.
