Kathmandu/Feb.25- The western districts of Nepal particularly Rukum is facing a barbaric repression more than like a foreign attack by the socalled democratic police. The police who is claiming themselves as a contractors of the peace and security of people’s life and property is setting fire into the more than 200 houses of Khara, Rugha and Chaukhabang VDCs in Rukum District. The Nepalese Independent media is covering the news about the reality of killings and cries of children, women and old people’s voices from inside the burning flame of the fire setting by police in their houses. On Wednesday some pro- “RAW” (Indian Intelligent Branch) newspapers and police sponsered media claimed 18 Maoists killed by police in Rukum. But on Thursday all the newspaper wrote about the police crime of how they destroyed the houses of people and killed ordinary civillians and broadcasted they killed Maoist.

According to “Mahima” a national weekly- a Police Patrol Team and Maoist Guerrillas suddenly cross-visit in Khara VDC. The encounter took place as a cross-fire where a cop Ganesh Mahatara was died. After that the bigge police force deployed there immidiately. Then the police started to set fire from the Khumcheri village of Khara VDC. In a moment 7/8 houses changed into ashes. Some of old and children came under the flame of fire and the young people who came out of fire were shot. This process was not stoped there.Two Helicoptors ferried police force there. Police started to set fire at the houses of Khara VDC ward no 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 ofKhara, Jhulneta, Kural, Khumcheri and Kalimati, Pokhari, and Khumcheri. After that police burnt the more than 20 houses of Rugha VDC# 8 and 6 wards. This is continue on Monday. 
 

According to pro-RAW “Kantipur daily”- according to the (their) source when the police patrol teamfrom Simrutu police post reached near a school at Khara VDC, the Maoists killed a cop then anger police set fire at the house of Khumcheri village. After this first incidents in suspect of hiding maoists, police set fire at the houses of other villages when more police force added from Nepalgung regional headquarter and sorrounded those villages.
 

The Kathmandu post (pro-indian daily newspaper)- sources say police set one house on fire in Khumcheri village after their colleague was killed by maoist while following them. Police also followed the maoists to other villages and burnt the houses which they thought were giving refused to those insurgents.
 

Accordings to locals, police had charterd two helicopters belonging to Ananya Airways and Karnali Airways to ferry policemen to sorround Julneta, Lait, and Kural villages. The sources said the helicopters kept on ferrying for four hours.
 

According to Deputy Inspector General of police Rajendra Bahadur Singh they (Police) attacked and destroyed the houses of Tek Bdr.Oli and Durga Bdr. Khadka, Khara VDC-2 Harbang; Tikaram Bantha and Shasiram Damai, Khara-6 Khumcheri; Shyam Bohora, Rugha-5 Chinchhahare; Prem Bantha, Muru-2 Rangsi. Because police suspected those houses were used by Maoist as a shelter. Police also set fire and destroyed in Khara VDC-5, Pokhri- 3; Muru 1,Dhaulabang- one and Khara VDC-6, Dundu - two houses and cowsheds, the DIG claimed.
 

According to the Kantipur February-25, majority of the people killed were rulling party (NC) supporters. And their families are gathering in district headquarters of Rukum.
 

But the DIG Sing said ‘police can not recognize who are Maoists and NC or UML’. Who came to stop the Police’s work and tried to lowdown the fire of the burning houses and rescue the people from the fire, they are terrorists (it is memorable that the work of police mean refering to the fire setting, loots, pillage, rapes and killings). Everybody who refuse to act what police wanted, like who don’t like to provide their wives, daughters, sisters to the police; those who don’t provide money or their properties to the police; and those who are not police informers are Maoists and they supposed to believe that they are terrorist. Police defining that they must have right to do in any way with those people and villages. When the Humanrights defenders and investigators and journalists asked local police authorities and Chief district officers they replied they can’t comment anything about the incidents because this is a order and these operations are directed from the top. 
 

In this way the Democratic exercises are going on or developing. And the police and millitary are paying by that money provided from western contries and institutions in the name of development and globalization. 
 

The chairpersons of affected VDCs, DDC president and locals demanded to punished to those responsible police authorities. The Main opposition Party in Parliament CPN (UML), NCP (ML), Nepal Sadbhawana Party, RPP and others several organizations, parties and personalities condemning the Government and demand to stop criminalities and punish the police authorities through issued their different/different press statements. Where they mentioning that the police set fire in to the houses of peoples and killed ordinary people in the name of maoist suppression.

National humanrights organizations condemning the police and demanding to stop the dirty criminal activities against the people and to punish responsible authorities and policemen.
